Some of the biggest enemies that a designer can have is lazyness, tardiness, and procrastination. Being late on a project or even to work, or in my case a class, is something that can smudge your reputation. Be late often and it can ruin you. Your boss [or instructor] wants work from you, just as you want payment from your boss [or a grade from a professor]. So defeating these enemies helps prevent pay-cuts [or grade-dropping], which in my eyes, is a good thing.
What is a concept? That question was asked in my concept development class on Monday. For the first time, I stopped to think what that was. I grinded my gears trying to come up with an answer to that question, but even as smoke came out of my head, I could not come up with anything. Dictionary.com defines the word concept as: a general idea, an idea of something formed by mentally combining all its characteristics or particulars; a construct, and an intuited object of thought. For some reason I had the notion that an idea is different that a concept. Why? I do not know. I guess for me a concept was part of an art [or any] project, and an idea something more general. We are used to using the word concept as we do projects and use the word idea in a more general use.
